In questa edizione di VbcTG andiamo a vedere alcune "novità" del CEBIT 2009 di Hannover, che si concluderà domani. asus-eee-pad-transformer-hands-on/ asus has come out with the eee Pad transformer an Android-powered eee Pad Transformer snaps into a special dock to become a laptop. The eee Pad Transformer is a pretty decent tablet to start; a half-inch-thick, 10.1-inch NVIDIA Tegra 2-powered unit that's going to eventually run Google's Android Honeycomb OS, although the early demo unit I saw was running Android 2.2 "Froyo."
Like asus' other eee Pads, the Transformer is full of custom software. There's a custom e-mail app, a big-screen calendar app, a custom music app with DLNA sharing and streaming, MyZine and a few asus applications that help you access personal information like your media or calendar.
What makes us pay attention to this device is the fact that it transforms.The big deal here, of course, is the transformation. The Transformer is a half-inch-thick tablet with a metal back the transformation occurs when there is a metal snap to physically attach a keyboard so you can close it to look like a laptop. Its a seamless transformation.
Once in laptop mode its a netbook with a touch screen and the keyboard has USB ports to attach a mouse if you don't want to use the build in trackpad. So far you can't use multitouch gestures when in this mode but the bottom keyboard part comes with a battery that should give the unit a total of 16 hours of battery life.
The Transformer feels like a laptop and when you compare it to the Atrix, which is also a device which transforms into a laptop. But what remains to be seen is what the UI will actually look like once the device hits the streets. There is talk of the device running Honeycomb and an we aren't sure what its going to look like. asus hacked Froyo quite a lot, but I couldn't picture what Honeycomb would look like with the same extensions. So it's hard to tell how any of asus's eee Pad tablets will perform when they finally come to market.
The eee Pad Transformer will cost between $499-699 and be available in April. http://phokia.com/

Like LucidLogix's technology which allows you to use an NVIDIA and an AMD graphics cards together with the upcoming Intel Sandy Bridge stuff. An iPhonECG case that allows you to monitor your heart rate using your iPhone. The Archos 7 Home Tablet gets an update, now v2 with Android 2.1, 800MHz CPU, and an accelerometer. PlayStation Phone probably heading for a spring launch. Archos 28, 32, and 70 Android tablets start shipping so you can buy them. Gibson's Paper Jamz got removed from stores because they got sued. asus's Eee Pad/Eee Slate was teased ahead of it's CES 2011 launch, maybe running Android. Amazon now allows you to lend e-books to your friends. asus is going to release five Intel Sandy Bridge machines soon, they are built for gaming. Also on display were the accompanying accessories, though so far the docks we've seen have been locked down, so that you can't slide the latch, open the door and stick the phone in. (Good thing we saw a demo at CES!) From an industrial design perspective, it has a rubbery, not spun metal finish, and feels surprisingly weighty in the hands, even without the phone inside. Call us shallow if you must, but we think it's important to stress that the Padfone plus the station does not equal a makeshift Transformer Prime. The keyboard, though, should bring no surprises: it's the same size as the one accompanying the Prime, and has similar dimensions. As for the stylus-headset, we saw asus Chairman Jonney Shih do a quick "One more thing"-style demo during the company's press conference, but we haven't yet found a live demo in the hands-on area where journalists are invited to try out the new products. We'll update this post with more impressions if we do get the chance to try it out for ourselves today.

What we have in the asus Eee Pad Slider has an innovative design that reminds me of a smartphone. Except its a 10.1" tablet device that slides out to reveal a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard. It is powered by the NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor with a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 and NVIDIA GeForce GPU. It also packs a capacitive touchscreen and a physical keyboard that slides out from behind the display panel, so you can tap out those important messages and emails at lightning speed.
The Slider feels pretty good to hold. It measures 273 by 180 by 18mm, so, while the keyboard definitely makes it bulkier than rival tablets, it's not disastrously huge. More importantly, it's pleasingly designed, with curved edges, a black glossy bezel around the display, chrome edging around the sides, and a big iPad-style 'home' button, flanked by touch-sensitive menu and back buttons. It feels well put together, and generally really classy.
