We call this "jitter."., When "jitter" happens, it's hard for the system to know if the finger is actually moving or stationary. In some instances, a simple gesture like "press and hold" becomes extremely hard to calculate. Determining user intent for sloppy or imprecise touches Although larger UI elements help improve touch targeting, we don't have that luxury within the windows desktop, especially with existing desktop applications. For this, we developed new ways to remap touch targets using the geometry of the finger, such that it becomes easier to invoke any UI that is within the radius of your finger contact. We will talk more about this feature in a separate blog post. While you can see that there are a number of places where we've done work to accommodate the variance in hardware, there will be some areas where software cannot compensate. We will call out a few of them below. zlnt.co For more tech news and an MP3 version of the podcast. A lot happened this week relating to 4G LTE since Verizon's 4G LTE network now covers two thirds of the United States. Sprint is working hard to catch up by adding 4G LTE to New York, Chicago, Nashville, and others as soon as they can. Many new 4G LTE smartphones were announced this week including the launch of the HTC One X on AT&T's network. It'll arrive on May 6th for $200 on a contract. T-Mobile will have the similar HTC One S at the same price, but it'll arrive on April 25th instead. Sprint will get the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and LG Viper 4G on April 22nd for $200 and $100 respectively. Looking into the future Samsung has a lot planned. They'll be launching the Galaxy Tab 2 series very soon. One rumor is that Samsung will delay the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 a little bit while they replace the dual core processor with a faster quad core Samsung processor. Samsung plans to hold an event in London on May 3rd where they'll unveil the next Galaxy or probably the Galaxy S III that we've been waiting a long time for. Meanwhile we reviewed the Samsung Galaxy Note. Some leaked EXIF data revealed the Motorola Droid RAZR HD name. Although we don't have a whole lot of information about the phone chances are it's some sort of Droid RAZR Maxx with an improved HD display.
