A Shore Line East commuter train arrives Old Saybrook ,CT filled with weekend-goers from New York and New Haven headed to suburban CT for the weekend. Sorry for the shakyness, it was a bitterly cold morning and I was shivering, so holding the camera steady was a challenge. Cab car #1709 is leading the train. Shore Line East is a Amtrak-run and CTDOT-owned rail service, serving the various historic towns along the CT shoreline, and the various suburbs of New Haven. Eastbound, most trains terminate in Old Saybrook, a small town about 30 miles from New Haven. However, some trains make it all the way to New London, CT, the biggest "city" between New Haven and Providence. Westbound, Shore Line East trains operate to Stamford, CT, but I don't know why because Metro North already has trains every half an hour or so to Stamford and then onto Grand Central.
